Second-seeded Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina defeated Joao Souza of Brazil in three sets on Friday to reach the semi-finals of the ATP event at Vina Del Mar in Chile.

Chela’s 5-7 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 victory sets up a semi-final against countryman Carlos Berlocq, who defeated Federico Delbonis of Argentina 6-3 6-4.

In another quarter-final of the red clay event, Jeremy Chardy of France won over Frederico Gil of Portugal 6-2 7-6 (7-5).

Chardy will face the winner of the remaining quarter-final between No.1 Juan Monaco of Argentina and fifth-seeded Albert Montanes of Spain.
