Unseeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy is the first man into the Brisbane International semi-finals, downing Japanese qualifier Yasutaka Uchiyama in three sets.
A day after upsetting defending champion Nick Kyrgios, Chardy overcame world No.185 Uchiyama 6-4 3-6 7-6 (7-4).
World No.40 Chardy will play the winner of Thursday night’s quarter-final clash between second seed Kei Nishikori of Japan and former Brisbane champion Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria.
