Bouchard back for round two in Hobart

Canadian crowd favourite Eugenie Bouchard gets straight back to business on day three of the Hobart International following her first-round win.

The former world No.5 on Tuesday meets Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck in a match the former is expecting to be a challenge.

“I haven’t played her in a professional match but I have practiced with her a few times,” Bouchard said of her world No.44 opponent.

“It will be a good match, she has a great serve, she can hit some powerful shots.”

Returning from injury, Bouchard on Monday easily accounted for American veteran Bethanie Mattek-Sands 6-2 6-1.

After her runaway round-one victory on Monday, Australia’s sole remaining singles hope Kimberly Birrell is back to play doubles with fellow Aussie Jarmila Wolfe.

The pair meet Ukranian sisters Nadiia Kichenok and Lyudmyla Kichenok in a line-up which also includes top-seed Camila Giorgi’s clash with Japan’s Nao Hibino.
