Bolt overpowered by Baghdatis in Atlanta

Australia’s Alex Bolt has missed out on a spot in the round of 16 at the Atlanta Open after falling in straight sets to Marcos Baghdatis.

The world No.169 was no match for the Cypriot who powered to a 6-4 6-1 victory on a cloudy Wednesday afternoon in Georgia.

Mischa Zverev, older brother of world No.3 Alexander, won his match against Russian veteran Mikhail Youzhny in straight sets, 6-4 6-2.

Also progressing to the round of 16 is world No.23 Hyeon Chung, who was pushed into a tiebreaker by plucky American Taylor Fritz.

The South Korean ended up beating the 20-year-old 6-4 7-6 (7-5) and was joined by American world No.53 Ryan Harrison.

Harrison recovered from a first set loss to beat Slovakia’s Lucas Lacko 2-6 6-2 6-3.

In Thursday’s other matches, Australian Alex de Minaur will lineup against big-serving American John Isner.

Nick Kyrgios is due to take on American youngster Noah Rubin, while Matthew Ebden will play Donald Young.
