Eighth-seeded Australian Ashleigh Barty has been thrashed 6-3 6-2 in her Brisbane International first-round clash with Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko on Monday night.
World No.17 Barty – ranked 25 spots higher than her opponent – had no answer to Tsurenko who claimed the match at Pat Rafter Arena in just over an hour.
Tsurenko booked a second-round clash with 2012 Brisbane International winner Kaia Kanepi.
