Ashleigh Barty has powered into the US Open doubles semi-finals with fellow former world No.1 Victoria Azarenka.

Bidding to go back-to-back in New York after winning last year’s title with Coco Vandeweghe, Barty and Azarenka upset top seeds Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic 2-6 7-5 6-1 in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.

Set to regain her world No.1 singles ranking next week, Barty is now two wins away from becoming the first woman in more than a decade to secure the doubles crown two years in a row in New York.
