Both Australian entrants bowed out in the quarter-finals of the ATP event in Munich on Friday, leaving second seeded Spaniard Feliciano Lopez and German fourth seed Philipp Kohlschreiber to meet in the semi-finals.
World No.16 Lopez overcame fifth seed Bernard Tomic 6-4 6-2 after home hope Kohlschreiber had seen off the challenge of Aussie qualifier Marinko Matosevic 6-0 7-6 (7-5).
Kohlschreiber is looking to reclaim a title he previously won in 2007.
The second semi-final on Saturday will feature German wildcard Tommy Haas, who defeated Marcos Baghdatis in the last eight, against Croatian third seed Marin Cilic.
