Ashleigh Barty has stormed into the quarter-finals of the Nottingham Open in England.
The 21-year-old Australian booked her spot in the final eight with an impressive 6-2 6-1 rout of Croatian world No.167 Jana Fett.
Barty was rarely troubled throughout the match and has set herself up for a likely quarter-final showdown with top-seeded Brit Johanna Konta, who will play her own doubles partner Yanina Wickmayer, in the second round, on Thursday.
Also through to the quarters is former Wimbledon semi-finalist Tsvetana Pironkova.
The Bulgarian powered past Japan’s Karumi Nara 6-3 6-2, while Croatia’s Donna Vekic is in the final eight after beating American Julia Boserup 6-3 6-4.
American qualifier Kristie Ahn also defeated Magda Linette in straight sets 6-3 6-1.
With the victory, the 24-year-old reaches her career first WTA quarter-final, where she’ll await the winner between No.4 seed Alison Riske and Magdalena Rybarikova.
