Former US Open finalist Madison Keys has sent local teenager Destanee Aiava crashing out in the first round of the Australian Open.

The 17th-seeded Keys won 6-2 6-2 in one hour and 11 minutes against the highly-rated Aiava, who lost at the same stage at Melbourne Park last year to world No.1 Simona Halep.

American Keys will play either Frenchwoman Pauline Parmentier or Russian Anastasia Potapova in the second round.
