After a date switch due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 French Open begins tonight with Rafael Nadal the $2.10 favourite at TAB to win his fourth-straight men’s singles title and 13th overall at Roland Garros.
The 19-time major singles champion did not contest the US Open and was upset by Diego Schwartzman in the quarter-finals of the ATP Masters event in Rome last week.
2016 French Open men’s winner Novak Djokovic – who won the Rome Masters title – is the $3.10 second elect as he looks to rebound from his fourth round disqualification at the US Open and claim his 18th major singles championship.
Dominic Thiem – victorious over Alexander Zverev in this month’s five-set men’s singles final at the US Open – is a $5.50 chance having fallen to Nadal in the last two French Open men’s finals.
On the women’s side, 2018 champion Simona Halep is the $3.85 favourite to claim her third major singles crown and is in form after winning the WTA title in Rome last week.
Two-time major singles champion Garbine Muguruza is an $8 chance to win her second French Open title while this month’s US Open women’s finalist Victoria Azarenka ($11) and 23-time major winner Serena Williams ($13) are also strong hopes.
