Wolves manager Terry Connor will retain Roger Johnson as skipper for the “foreseeable future” after his on-field bust-up with keeper Wayne Hennessey.

But Connor admitted he may at some stage revisit or change his decision to persevere with centre-back Johnson as his captain.

He has spoken to both players about their flare-up during last weekend’s 3-2 home setback against Bolton and is satisfied the matter will not fester.

Connor said: “Roger is captain for the foreseeable future.”

But, when asked if he may revisit or change his decision, he admitted: “Yes I could.”

Johnson was made captain in place of long-serving midfielder Karl Henry during the summer after his move from Birmingham.

Press Association Sport understands the decision was not universally popular with all the players.

The former Cardiff player was initially dropped from the side after Connor’s appointment in February.

Johnson was then disciplined after turning up the worse for wear for training the morning after a 5-0 defeat at Fulham.

Connor held separate talks with Johnson and Hennessey at the start of the week to ensure the on-the-pitch spat has been put to one side.

He said: “I spoke to them really just to make sure everything is as it should be.

“We put it to bed at half-time but it would have been remiss of me not to make sure everything was as it should be between the players.

“Neither meeting lasted very long. They were done and dusted quickly.

“I just wanted to make sure that they were comfortable with each other and they are.”
