One week after Ironbark Fields hosted its first A-League finals match, it will have a rest as Western United “hosts” Melbourne City in the first leg at City’s nominal home.

John Aloisi’s side might have rode their luck just a bit against Adelaide last weekend, but Noah Botic’s star turn proved to be the difference.

If they are to qualify for their second Grand Final appearance, it will need to be built on a strong first leg, winning their last six games as the home team.

However they will have to overcome a poor recent record against Melbourne City, with the big money side winning the last four head to head matches, which might explain why they are favoured in the match market.

But there is a real concern that they are going to come out of the blocks a bit slowly after having a weekend off which might slow the momentum of their six game unbeaten run to close the regular season.

Truth be told you could make a value argument for both teams here, but Western United as the home team has been a solid bet of late and are worth a play to win this fixture.
