The trip across to Wellington comes at a challenging time for the Roar who are struggling both on the pitch and in the boardroom. A fourth loss for Brisbane would increase the pressure on John Aloisi. Last week’s result against Newcastle was full of controversy with the Roar getting a goal they didn’t deserve when Boogard poked in an own goal and then were disallowed a goal they did deserve when Maccarone was deemed offside high up the pitch despite going on to score.

We have seen enough in the Roar over the last two games to think that they can definitely score at some point in this match and that a draw is their most realistic ‘best’ result.

FINAL SAY: There is plenty to like about the Phoenix who played the same three first up opponents as Melbourne Victory and came away with the same outcome; one draw against Adelaide United. In fact they were able to break down the Sydney defence for two goals when Melbourne did not score at all. Strong at home the Phoenix will be very hard to beat.
