Tottenham sign striker Saha from Everton

Tottenham have bolstered their striking options by signing Louis Saha from Premier League rival Everton in the final hours of the transfer window on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old Frenchman has scored just once for Everton in the Premier League this season and would have been out of contract at the end of the campaign.

“Striker Louis Saha has left Everton to join Tottenham Hotspur,” Everton said in a statement.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp said Roman Pavlyuchenko “could be going to a Russian club” with the transfer window in the striker’s homeland not closing until next month.

Redknapp also said Tottenham is trying to sign defender Ryan Nelsen from Blackburn before the cut-off point, while Wolverhampton Wanderers want Spurs defender Sebastien Bassong on loan.
