Siena reached the Italian Cup semifinals for the first time by winning 1-0 at Chievo Verona on Wednesday despite having a player sent off.

Siena striker Mattia Destro scored in the 54th minute but teammate Paolo Grossi was shown a red card six minutes later.

Chievo Verona defenders Nicolas Frey and Davide Mandelli had chances to take the game into extra time, but Siena also looked dangerous and Destro should have scored again in the 82nd minute.

Siena, which is four points above the relegation zone in 17th place in the Serie A standings, will play either Inter Milan or Napoli.
