When: 19:50 | Saturday 18/11/2017

Where: Allianz Stadium

Preview:

The match of the season. You can have all the derbies you like but if you want to see the two best teams go head to head, this is the game. Newcastle have the attacking power to score against the Sky Blues and will be encouraged by how Sydney were exposed defensively against the Wanderers and Mariners in recent weeks.

Newcastle must lock down in defence if they are going to win this game and only a complete game at both ends of the pitch will get them a win. Sydney are incredibly short with the market clearly favouring them to win easily based on those odds. The Jets are excellent value for the upset especially considering that Sydney are in the middle of a crowded fixture.

FINAL SAY: We are not entirely convinced that the pre-season loss of Bernie Ibini and Holosko have been replaced by Graeme Arnold. They are still one of the best teams in the competition but not quite invincible in defence without Danny Vukovic and not quite as potent in attack without Holosko. Sydney’s very best will be good enough but with the FFA Cup Final they will have to balance their A-League and FFA Cup ambitions.
