Sydney FC sack boss Melton

Sydney FC have sacked chief executive Dirk Melton citing a number of “serious” complaints from the A-League club’s staff.

The club said in a statement on Monday that Melton’s contract was terminated effective immediately.

“The unanimous decision of the board follows a number of formal complaints of a serious nature by employees which were investigated and revealed behaviour in Mr Melton’s management of staff which was completely unacceptable,” the statement said.

The board acknowledged Melton’s role in setting the club on a path to achieve its strategic long term goals.

“However, the board determined that Mr Melton’s behaviour towards staff was inconsistent with his obligations and could not be tolerated by the board, and as a consequence the club could not continue with him as chief executive officer.”

Stefan Kamasz will take over as acting chief executive officer.
