Sweden defender Majstorovic injures knee

Sweden defender Daniel Majstorovic injured his left knee on Tuesday during practice ahead of a friendly against Croatia and is in doubt for the European Championship.

Striker John Guidetti was also injured during the training session in Croatia, the Swedish Football Association said.

Both players were taken to a hospital where Majstorovic was found to have injured his left cruciate ligament.

Swedish broadcaster SVT said the 34-year-old Celtic player was hurt in a clash with midfielder Anders Svensson.

Guidetti appeared to have strained a muscle in his hip, but it wasn’t immediately clear how serious the injury was. The 19-year-old Feyenoord attacker had been set to make his debut in the national team in Wednesday’s friendly.

“This hurts, for all of us, but above all for Daniel,” Sweden coach Erik Hamren said. “This means of course that he will be away for a long time.”

Sweden is in the same group as England, France and Ukraine.
