Spurs say they’ve completed signing winger Nacer Chadli from FC Twente after he agreed to personal terms and passed a medical.
The Belgium international, 23, has been in Hong Kong training with his new team-mates but will not play against local side South China on Saturday in the Barclays Asia Trophy.
He is expected to be available for the first time when Tottenham travel to Monaco for a pre-season fixture on August 3.
Chadli, who has 14 caps for his country, cost a reported seven million pounds ($A11.97 million) from the Dutch side and becomes Spurs’ second major signing of the summer after the capture of Brazilian international Paulinho.
Speaking on Monday, Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas said: “Chadli’s a player we’ve been following for quite some time and we managed to strike a deal in the last few days.
“He’s a player who is extremely versatile and can play in several positions up front.
“He played with tremendous success on the left for Twente as a winger and as an attacker for Belgium.
“We look forward to having him on board with us.”
Villas-Boas told Tottenham’s official website on Friday the Brazilian midfielder Sandro was back in training after the serious knee injury that he suffered in January.
