Trailing Manchester City by four points heading into its penultimate Premier League fixture of 2021/22, Liverpool will visit Southampton at St. Mary’s on Tuesday night.

The Reds claimed their second trophy of the season on Saturday, defeating Chelsea via penalty shootout in the FA Cup Final at Wembley.

In terms of Premier League form, Liverpool’s latest 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park maintained a 17-match unbeaten run which includes 14 wins.

Meanwhile, Southampton finds itself in the lower half of the Premier League table, with 40 points to its name from 36 fixtures this season.

Only one of those points has been gained from the Saints’ last four matches, including a 3-0 loss to Brentford at the Community Stadium last time out.

Southampton was also beaten when visiting Liverpool earlier this season, falling 4-0 at Anfield as Diogo Jota netted a double.
