Barring some sort of miracle defeat, Arsenal will finish in second spot yet again with a last day layup against Southampton.

They have plenty of experience with these last day dead rubbers and to their credit, they tend to win them more often than not.

While last season they went into the final day with a chance of stealing the title from Manchester City, they have won most of these matches in convincing fashion when they had nothing to gain under Mikel Arteta.

Two years ago, they belted Wolves 5-0 on the final day with nothing on the line, the year before it was 5-1 over Everton and in 2021 it was 2-0 over Brighton.

In fact, it has been over a decade since the Gunners lost on the final day of the season and taking on a relegated side that has not scored in their last three outings suggests this one is heading in one direction.
