In a sign of what may lie ahead, the Socceroos are now priced at their biggest ever price for a World Cup match.
With all the money coming for the Dutch, online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has drifted the Socceroos out to $17.
By comparison when the Socceroos got creamed 4-0 to Germany in 2010, they were priced at $6.50.

- · Dutch money: Almost $1 million dollars has been bet on Holland, by far the most money bet on any one team so far during the World Cup!
- · 20-1: Unlike game 1 v Chile where there was some patriotic money for the Socceroos, the same can’t be said for game 2. For every dollar bet on the match, only 5 cents is going on Australia.
- · $50k bet: The biggest bet of the match is $50,000 on the Netherlands at $1.20. In comparison, the biggest bet placed on Australia is $350.
- · Punters tip a flogging: The best backed scorecast is a 4-0 win to the Netherlands. However there is one punter who has hope in the Socceroos, placing $1 on a 5-0 win to Australia at odds of $501.
“We weren’t taking bets back in 1974 when the Aussies played West Germany, but even if we did, we still think the Socceroos would be longer odds against the Netherlands.
