Rogic nominated for young A-League player

Central Coast have continued their dominance of the contest for the young A-League player of the year award with Tom Rogic announced as February’s nominee.

Rogic, 19, has impressed for the competition leaders since being elevated into the first team by coach Graham Arnold.

He becomes the fourth Mariners’ player to earn a nomination for this season’s award behind Bernie Ibini (November), Mustafa Amini (December) and Mathew Ryan (January).

The winner of the award is chosen from the nominees at the end of the season.

Rogic, who scored impressive goals against Melbourne Heart and Wellington, said he was pleased to earn recognition for his form.

“(I’m) very happy and very proud,” he said.

“I’ve been working very hard for something like this to happen, so I am enjoying the moment.

“… The youth here have been given an opportunity to play.

“Obviously, there’s a lot of talented young boys … being placed in the right environment here at the Mariners where they’re brought through the right way and encouraged.”
