Redknapp misses Anfield clash

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has missed his side’s Premier League match at Liverpool on Monday night after his flight from London was grounded.

Redknapp made an unsuccessful dash from London’s Southwark Crown Court, where he has been for the last few days facing two charges of cheating the public revenue, to City airport late Monday afternoon to catch a flight to Merseyside.

However, Press Association Sport understands a technical problem with the plane meant it was unable to take off.

Arrangements were made to obtain a second aircraft but there were issues with scheduling a takeoff slot which would have meant the Spurs boss would not have arrived in time for kick-off at Anfield.

Redknapp, who denies the court charges against him, decided to stay in the south and watch the match on television.

Redknapp’s absence was not unusual for the Spurs as the 64-year-old missed three weeks in November so he could have heart surgery.
