Porto edge ahead in Portugal

Porto have moved ahead of Benfica on goal difference at the top of the Portuguese Liga with a 2-0 win at home to struggling Feirense.

Porto struggled to break down their opponents until the visitors had Luciano sent off in the 57th minute on Sunday.

Maicon made the breakthrough in the 68th minute and substitute James Rodriguez sealed the win four minutes later.

Sporting Lisbon moved up to fourth with a 1-0 home win over Rio Ave thanks to Marat Izmailov’s 35th-minute goal.

Vitoria Setubal played for most of the game with 10 men as they held off a late fightback to win 3-2 at Beira Mar and climb out of the relegation zone.

Goals from Targino (18) and Amaro (29) had the visitors two up only for Jorge Miguel Dias Goncalves’ 38th-minute sending-off to leave them a man down.

Ney Santos put the 3-0 up early in the second half and they held on for the win, despite goals from Javier Balboa (75) and Zhang Chengdong (86) giving the hosts hope.

Nacional won 2-0 at Pacos Ferreira, with Daniel Candeias putting them in front from three minutes after the break.

Nacional had Ivan Todorovic sent off in the 84th minute but wrapped up the three points courtesy of Claudemir’s 90th-minute penalty.

Elsewhere, Olhanense had Andre Almeida Pinto sent off 12 minutes from time in their 0-0 draw at home to Gil Vicente.
