There will be reunions aplenty in the Hunter on Friday night when the Newcastle Jets host former manager Carl Robinson and a fair few former players in the Western Sydney Wanderers.

It’s been a tumultuous week for the one time A-League champions with the club’s license being revoked and handed over to a new managing entity and it’s hard to see the squad being completely focused on the task at hand.

The Wanderers went down 1-0 in their opening match to new boys Macarthur FC however that was not an indicative performance of their potential for the rest of the season.

Newcastle is a side that is probably going to be in contention for, if not the favourite to take out the Wooden Spoon and at least until they generate some momentum, I’ll stick with my early season promise to back against them.
