Preview:

As the regular season end draws to a close, Round 27 of the A-League kicks off this weekend.  The first match is between the Newcastle Jets and Adelaide United, kicking off at Hunter Stadium, 7.30PM Friday night.  The Jets will be slight favourites to take the points here, currently sitting at 7th ladder position and really, really needing to win.  While Adelaide have the chance to take the lead in the race for second spot, the Jets are fighting for their lives.

Even if they win, however, Newcastle still have to rely on Sydney FC losing to the Perth Glory on Sunday in order to make the six, an unlikely result in itself.   Both teams are coming off 2-2 draws last round, and neither side has the luxury of a similar result in their respective campaigns.  That alone should make for an interesting game, especially with a Jets outfit on the verge of desperation.
