Preview:

It might not have been overly pretty but the Victory got their first win of the new season in Brisbane.

Of course losing Andrew Nabbout to a hamstring injury in the first half of that game will hurt them going forward, especially if it puts more pressure on Ola Toivonen in the front third.

Western United on the other hand lost their first Victorian Derby to Melbourne City and now travel up the road to face the Victory.

On the plus side they have scored in every match so far, but they’ve only managed one goal in each contest.

Both Mark Rudan and Marco Kurz are defence first managers, looking to set the side up to be solid at the back and try to win games 1-0 or 2-0.

Two plays leap out in this one, the first one is both teams to score considering the attacking talent on offer, but these managers love a clean sheet… actually any manager would.

Given the way this season is unfolding so far, take neither side to keep a clean sheet though, there have only been five clean sheets in 15 matches and one of those was a 0-0 draw.
