Just over five years ago Aston Villa came to Anfield and put seven past the reigning champions and they have a great chance to heap some more misery on the Reds this weekend.
It would be folly to say Liverpool’s title defence is over already, but it has taken a few body blows on the back of four successive defeats.
Granted, they have only had one home game during that run and it was a 2-1 loss to Manchester United, so it’s not like their famed Anfield fortress is starting to crumble.
But Villa is every chance of springing an upset here, especially after their upset of Manchester City last weekend thanks in no small part to the goalkeeping heroics of Emi Martinez.
Not all is well at Liverpool right now and while Villa is not exactly a force, their domestic form of four straight Premier League wins is too tough to ignore.
