The 2022/23 Premier League season begins for Leicester City and Brentford at the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Foxes missed out on European qualification last season by just four points and goal difference, ultimately finishing eighth. A major issue for the side was the availability of Jamie Vardy, with the 35-year-old netting 15 goals across 25 top-flight appearances, a rate of scoring which ranked equal-third in the top-flight behind only Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-Min. Notably, none of those goals came against Brentford, although that didn’t stop Leicester from claiming a pair of 2-1 victories. Meanwhile, Brentford finished six points behind the Foxes in 13th. However, there are major doubts surrounding the Bees’ ability to replicate that finish, having lost Christian Eriksen to Manchester United over the summer. Brentford held a 7-1-3 W/D/L record in EPL fixtures when Eriksen took the pitch, compared to 6-6-15 when he didn’t.
