After narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day of the 2021/22 season, Leeds will look to begin the new campaign in a positive fashion when playing host to Wolverhampton at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon. The Whites saved themselves by winning 2-1 at Brentford on the final day via goals from Jack Harrison and the now-departed Raphinha. Kalvin Phillips has joined Raphinha in leaving the club for a big fee this summer, seeing Leeds recruit Brenden Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams for fees between £20-£25million. Meanwhile, after finishing last season 10th in the Premier League, Wolverhampton has seen only Nathan Collins come through the door from Burnley. Wolves won 15 matches in league play last season, although none of those victories came against Leeds. Their first matchup resulted in a 1-1 stalemate at Elland Road, while Leeds won the second 3-2 at the Molineux during March.
