Germany captain Philipp Lahm has been ruled out the friendly with France on Wednesday because of a right knee injury.
The German Football Federation (DFB) says Lahm has been injured for a week, though he was able to play 90 minutes in Bayern Munich’s 2-0 win over Schalke on Sunday.
The DFB says Lahm consulted with national team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt before deciding to remain in Munich for treatment.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sven Bender is a major doubt for the game in Bremen after being substituted in the eighth minute of Sunday’s 3-1 win over Hannover with a suspected broken nose.
He is having another examination on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury.
