This match represents Australia’s first true test on their journey to Qatar 2022.
Jordan are currently sitting second in Group B, two points adrift of the Aussies after failing to break a nil-all deadlock against Kuwait back in October.
The Middle Eastern side have been fickle in defence, only conceding once across their opening three qualifying matches.
While Jordan have been defensively sound, they have struggled to find the back of the net, scoring only five goals against the same Asian minnows which the Socceroos have belted a whopping 15 goals past.
Graham Arnold has gifted his players the licence to attack from every part of the ground across the opening three group fixtures.
Ryan Grant has been a revelation down the right flank, sending early balls into the penalty area on a regular basis.
He will be looking to link up with Adam Taggart, who looks set to lead the line with Jamie Maclaren missing selection through injury.
Taggart is enjoying career best form in the K-League and is currently the league’s equal top scorer with 18 goals, add that to his two strikes against Chinese Taipei and you’ll be hard pressed finding better value @$2.63 for an anytime goal scorer.
History is against the Socceroos in this match, Jordan have been victorious in three of the sides last five competitive matches.
All the pressure will be on the Chivalrous to secure a result in front of their home fans, which will no doubt allow the Socceroos more freedom to execute Arnold’s expansive game plan.
I’m expecting the Socceroos to dominate the possession in this contest, frustrating the home side and ultimately holding out for their third clean sheet of the qualifying campaign.
