German club Dynamo Dresden has sold out its 32,066-capacity stadium despite fans not being allowed in for its second division game against Ingolstadt.
Dynamo sold its last “ghost ticket” on Saturday evening for a game played behind closed doors because of a stadium ban following rioting at a cup match at Borussia Dortmund.
Fans snapped up tickets in a show of solidarity with the club, and gathered to watch the game – a scoreless draw – on big screens outside the stadium on Sunday.
Before kickoff, Dynamo said it would continue to “make space for everyone who doesn’t want to go into the stadium”.
Dresden was originally banned from the German Cup next season after the violence in Dortmund on October 25, but the punishment was reduced on appeal.
