Fenerbahce move closer to top in Turkey

Fenerbahce are two points off the pace at the top of the Super Lig table after a 2-1 win over Mersin Idmanyurdu.

Heading into kick-off trailing leaders Galatasaray by five points, Fener had a great start by taking an eighth-minute lead through Henri Bienvenu.

They doubled their advantage through Miroslav Stoch before the break on Sunday and, although Nduka Ozukwo pulled one back (57), they had enough to see the game out.

Trabzonspor are fourth after a 4-0 rout of Ankaragucu.

Olcan Adin put them ahead (13) and Burak Yilmaz made it two just before the hour. Ishak Dogan’s own-goal then made it safe, before Yilmaz completed his double.

Istanbul Buyuksehir BSK enjoyed a 4-2 win away to struggling Samsunspor.

Metin Depe put them ahead just before the break, with Taner Yalcin and Francisco Lima Madureira making it 3-0.

Samsunspor thought they had a glimmer of hope when Alvaro Dominguez scored (82) but Pierre Webo snuffed that out before Theofanis Gekas’ last-minute consolation.

A last-minute penalty from Florian Cernat helped Karabukspor beat Manisaspor 2-1.

Murat Erdogan gave Manisaspor the lead, but Mehmet Yildiz equalised. The visitors then had Jerry Akaminko sent off, with Cernat scoring from the spot in the aftermath.

There was also a red card shown in the meeting between Gaziantepspor and Sivasspor, where the former ran out 2-1 winners.

Michael Eneramo put Sivasspor ahead but Erman Kilic’s own-goal levelled the score. Sivasspor’s Kivanc Karakas then saw red and substitute Muhammet Demir won it for Gaziantepspor.

In the day’s other game, Bogdan Stancu’s goal was enough to give Orduspor a 1-0 win at Eskisehirspor.
