The Mariners are playing good football right now and Paul Okon has done a fantastic job in getting the team to stay positive despite early results not going their way.

It would have been very easy for the team to drop off and lose confidence quickly but the Mariners have turned it around and got their first win against the reds last week.

Mickael Tavares (pictured above) provides a mature, calming influence in the midfield, and his experience has been key in settling any nerves during the run of bad results.

Phoenix grabbed their first win of the season against the Jets and while they’ve shown some good signs this season, their inconsistency has cost them once again.

Kosta Barbarouses and Gui Finkler were key figures in attack for the Phoenix but with Kosta joining Andrew Durnate, Glen Moss, Michael McGlinchey, and Louis Fenton on international duty, Wellington will be stretched again this week.

KEY BATTLE: Jake McGling v Roy Krishna

With so many players missing, Krishna (pictured above) will have to be at his best to lead the Phoenix frontline.

He scored two goals last week but I feel the Mariners have the edge in this one with McGing keeping Krishna and Finkler quiet.

It’ll be hard for the Phoenix to match the Mariners with their key players out and Central Coast will want to use home advantage to build on their first win last weekend
