Brisbane Roar drop Berisha appeal

Brisbane Roar have decided against appealing a one-match ban imposed by Football Federation Australia on key striker Besart Berisha.

The club will accept the suspension for a code of conduct breach in a fiery aftermath to Brisbane’s dramatic 2-1 win over Sydney FC at Suncorp Stadium earlier this month.

Roar CEO Michael Bowers said the club fully supported Berisha but believed in this instance accepting the ban was the right decision.

“This past week has undoubtedly been a difficult one for Besart and as a club we have made the decision to accept the ban, put the events behind us and move forward,” said Bowers.

The distraction of an appeal from the Roar’s upcoming clash with Newcastle was a key factor in the club’s decision.
