Bresciano back for Socceroos

Midfielder Mark Bresciano has ended his self-imposed break from international soccer with inclusion in the Australian squad to take on Saudi Arabia in a World Cup qualifier in Melbourne next week.

Bresciano, who now plays his club football for Al Nasr in the United Arab Emirates, has not represented the Socceroos since the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

Australia have already booked their spot in the final round of Asian World Cup qualifying.

Coach Holger Osieck has named a strong 19-man squad, including the likes of captain Lucas Neill and Mark Schwarzer.

Long-time Socceroos Harry Kewell and Brett Emerton have also been called up, having moved home to play in the A-League.

The match will be held at AAMI Park on February 29.

Australia: Mark Bresciano, Alex Brosque, Nicky Carle, David Carney, Brett Emerton, Harry Kewell, Michael Marrone, Mark Milligan, Lucas Neill (capt), Jade North, Sasa Ognenovski, Erik Paartalu, Matthew Ryan, Adam Sarota, Mark Schwarzer, Matthew Spiranovic, Michael Thwaite, Archie Thompson, James Troisi.
