Coming into their opening match against Switzerland, Brazil had won 34/35 matches when they were ahead at half-time. An unmarked header from a few feet out by Steven Zuber changed all that with Switzerland taking a surprise point from their opening match.
STAT: Costa Rica had more possession (52-48) and the same amount of both shots (10) and shots on target against Serbia. If they are to challenge Brazil they need to be more accurate in attack.
FINAL SAY: The Brazilians looked threatening in the opening half hour of play against the Swiss and had some fantastic late chances that simply didn’t go their way. On another night they would have stolen their opening match at the death. The Selecao have to tread carefully now, a shock loss or another draw would leave their match with Serbia as a must-win. We think they will show their quality and win.
