Boyd becomes Hull’s first EPL signing

Hull City have completed their first transfer since winning promotion to the English Premier League after announcing on Tuesday that Scottish forward George Boyd has joined the club on a permanent basis.

The 27-year-old Scotland international signed for Hull on a short-term loan deal from Peterborough United in February and scored four goals in his first five games.

The club said on its official Twitter account that Boyd, who was out of contract, had signed a two-year deal.

He had been poised to join Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window, only for the move to fall through owing to what Forest described as an “inconclusive eye test”.

British media reports claim Hull manager Steve Bruce has a STG15 million ($A23.7 million) transfer kitty at his disposal to help prepare the club to return to the top flight.
