Bolton captain Davies returns to training

Bolton skipper Kevin Davies has returned to training and could be available for Saturday’s crunch relegation clash against QPR at the Reebok Stadium.

Davies suffered a knee injury during last month’s home defeat by Wigan but manager Owen Coyle hopes the 34-year-old will be in his squad this weekend.

Bolton are seeking a victory that would take them out of the relegation zone.

“Kevin has trained this week,” confirmed Coyle.

However, Spanish defender Marcos Alonso is in doubt after returning home following the death of his grandfather.

“Marcos has returned to Spain,” said Coyle.

“We will have to see whether he makes it back in time.”

Although there is almost a third of the season remaining, Coyle is not underestimating the impact of a weekend when four of the bottom five face each other.

“It is a six-pointer, we have to face that,” he said.

“We have six home games to go and we have to maximise the opportunity in front of us.

“It sounds simplistic but the aim is to end up with at least one point more than three other teams.”
