Blatter meets Rupert Murdoch in Zurich

FIFA President Sepp Blatter met with News Corporation chairman Rupert Murdoch on Thursday, weeks after their organisations signed a $425 million ($A407 million) broadcast deal.

Murdoch later wrote on Twitter that he’d been “with the big chiefs of soccer,” describing FIFA as an “amazing organisation.”

Murdoch’s American network Fox Broadcasting Company agreed last October to pay FIFA a reported $425 million for English-language United States television rights for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

Murdoch also owns British newspaper The Sunday Times, whose 2010 investigation into alleged bribery during bidding for those tournaments prompted FIFA to suspend six of Blatter’s serving and former executive committee colleagues.
