Blackburn boss vows to avoid humiliation

Steve Kean intends to make sure Blackburn never get torn apart like they did at Arsenal as he aims to keep them in the English Premier League.

The Rovers were thumped 7-1 at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

They fell behind after just 79 seconds before their job was made even more difficult following Gael Givet’s dismissal for a two-footed challenge on Robin van Persie and also what looked to be a serious ankle injury to midfielder Jason Lowe.

Rovers remain 19th, three points behind Wolves who won at fellow strugglers QPR, who they host next weekend.

Kean, who elected to leave wantaway captain Christopher Samba out of the squad, says lessons will be learned from the heavy defeat.

“I have done enough talking. Now what we will do is get back on the training ground and will work ourselves through it,” Keane said.

“We will be speaking about the game, analysing it.

“We will be doing sessions to replicate if it happened again – those situations in wide areas where we need to be putting pressure on the ball and we need to be doubling up.

“We will go through it, every scenario, we will work ourselves through every goal and situation, so that it doesn’t happen again.”

Kean added: “We have not got may games left and we need to get to a position on points that is going to take us out of this zone we are in.”

Samba has not played since handing in a transfer request last month, which was rejected.

Kean did not feel Samba had been in the right frame of mind to return to the side.

The Rovers manager remained coy when the subject of the defender’s future was raised again.

Kean said: “Obviously – without going too deep because it could get into a position where…I am not a legal expert – but he is fit and available for selection, but I have decided not to put him in the squad.

“It is a position where we would like to get it resolved as soon as possible because I think the way we are just now is not really helpful for anybody.”
