Allsopp gets one-match A-League ban

Melbourne Victory striker Danny Allsopp has been handed a one-match A-League ban for his tackle on Perth Glory’s Steve Pantelidis.

Allsopp, who was given a straight red card for the challenge on Sunday, has until midday on Tuesday to appeal the decision by the independent match review panel (MRP).

The MRP ruled on Monday that Allsopp committed serious foul play for a studs-up tackle late in the 4-1 loss to Perth.

The tackle was ruled to be worthy of the minimum sanction for such an offence.

The matter can only be appealed to the FFA disciplinary committee if the player believes there were exceptional circumstances.
