Wallabies star Genia to make French debut

Wallabies halfback Will Genia has been named to make his first start for Stade Francais in Saturday’s Top 14 clash against Bordeaux-Begles.

Genia’s debut has been delayed due to a knee injury as the defending champions come into the game in 10th spot on ladder, starting the weekend 12 points behind leaders Clermont and seven off the drop zone.

Fellow Wallaby Adam Ashley-Cooper, who was unveiled by Bordeaux during the week, hasn’t been named in the matchday squad.

Genia, 27, won his 66th and most recent cap playing for the Wallabies in their 34-17 loss to the All Blacks in the Rugby World Cup final in October.

Another member of that Wallabies squad, prop Sekope Kepu, has been named on the bench for Bordeaux.
