Wallabies set for mixed reception in Perth

The action on the field will be hotly contested, but the reaction of the crowd will be equally intriguing during the Wallabies’ clash with South Africa in Perth on Saturday night.

Fans in Western Australia are still fuming over the ARU’s decision to axe their beloved Western Force.

Some fans have threatened to boycott Saturday’s Test match as a form of protest.

Others will rock up wearing their blue Force jersey instead of the Wallaby gold.

And some fans feel so disenfranchised, they’ve vowed to switch allegiances for a night and cheer on the Springboks.

Outgoing ARU chief executive Bill Pulver and chairman Cameron Clyne are expected to attend the game.

If vision of them goes up on the big screen, a chorus of boos is set to ring around nib Stadium.

Force hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau, who has been named in the starting side for the Wallabies, said he’s eager to put in a good showing to repay the rugby fans of Perth.

“I feel I owe them so much,” Polota-Nau said.

“I’ve really enjoyed playing over here, and making the move over at the start of this year.

“I feel I’ve got to go out and perform for the entire WA community because they’ve given me so much.”

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika doesn’t care what colour jersey the fans wear – as long as they rock up.

Captain Michael Hooper says he and his teammates have received good support from the WA public throughout the week, and he expects the same on Saturday night.
