The Stormers secured top spot in the South African Super Rugby conference after battling to a 13-6 victory over the Cheetahs in wet and cold conditions on Saturday.
Gio Aplon’s converted try were the only points that separated the two sides in a drab encounter that was ruined by the poor weather.
But having ensured that neither the Bulls nor the Sharks can top their points tally with one regular-season round remaining, the Stormers were perfectly content to put a positive result before aesthetics.
