Utility back Gio Aplon and prop Dean Greyling have been added to South Africa’s squad for the remaining two rugby Tests against England, a spokesman said on Monday.
Springboks coach Heyneke Meyer added the players to his 32-man squad because of injury concerns surrounding first Test fullback Zane Kirchner and replacement prop Coenie Oosthuizen.
Kirchner came off at halftime with a knee injury in a 22-17 triumph last Saturday and has been ruled out of the second Test at Ellis Park in Johannesburg this Saturday.
Oosthuizen has complained of neck and shoulder stiffness and will be sent for a scan before deciding whether he remains with the squad for the second Test and the third on June 23 in Port Elizabeth.
England have also suffered setbacks with fullback Mike Brown ruled out of the tour by a thumb injury and inside centre Brad Barritt unavailable for the second Test because of an eye operation.
