Shoulder injury sidelines Shields

An injured Brad Shields is out of the Hurricanes side to face the Sharks in New Plymouth on Friday.

Shields, who has impressed in his outings in his first season in Super Rugby, injured a shoulder in the 47-38 loss to the Cheetahs on Saturday.

The absence of the national under-20 representative has been cushioned by the return of Victor Vito who has recovered from a calf injury.

Vito joins Ben May, Tim Bateman and Jason Eaton in the starting line-up after they all missed out last week.

Jeremy Thrush and Tristan Moran drop out of the match-day 22 altogether, while Charlie Ngatai is on the bench.

The Hurricanes, who lie third in the New Zealand conference and sixth overall, have also included Tusi Pisi on the bench and he will make his debut for the franchise if he gets on the field.

Hurricanes: Andre Taylor, Cory Jane, Conrad Smith (capt), Tim Bateman, Julian Savea, Beauden Barrett, TJ Perenara, Victor Vito, Karl Lowe, Faifili Levave, Jason Eaton, James Broadhurst, Jeffery Toomaga-Allen, Dane Coles, Ben May. Res: Motu Matu’u, Michael Bent, Mark Reddish, Jack Lam, Chris Eaton, Tusi Pisi, Charlie Ngatai.
