Samoa fullback James So’oialo has been cited for allegedly grabbing the testicles of South Africa’s Adriaan Strauss in their rugby Test at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
The South African Rugby Union said So’oialo was cited for “committing an act contrary to good sportsmanship” in Samoa’s 56-23 defeat in Pretoria.
He was appearing at a judicial hearing in Johannesburg on Sunday.
Samoa wing Alesana Tuilagi also will appear at a hearing after being sent off for a dangerous tackle on Springboks captain Jean de Villiers in the same game.
Strauss was visibly furious after the So’oialo incident at a ruck in the second half.
TV footage showed So’oialo grabbing at the hooker’s groin and Strauss responding by throwing a punch, which missed, and then swearing at So’oialo.
